SEC hoops: Alabama, Kentucky pick up blue-chip commitments

Football fall camp is starting up around the SEC, but there’s still basketball news to pass along. Alabama and Kentucky both picked up 4-star commitments Thursday.
Mississippi shooting guard Jaylen Forbes announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide via his Twitter account Thursday. The Florence product measures 6-5, 190 pounds and is rated the No. 100 overall recruit, No. 17 shooting guard and No. 2 player out of Mississippi on the 247Sports Composite.
Forbes is the second commitment in Avery Johnson’s 2019 class, which currently has Composite rankings of No. 2 in the SEC and No. 7 nationally.

Kentucky picked up a commitment from 4-star small forward Dontaie Allen. A product of the Bluegrass State in Pendleton County, Allen measures 6-6, 185 pounds. His Composite rankings are No. 145 overall recruit, No. 35 small forward and No. 3 recruit in the state of Kentucky. He also made his announcement on Twitter.

Allen joins 5-star recruit Tyrese Maxey in the Wildcats’ 2019 class, which is ranked No. 1 in the SEC and No. 5 nationally on Composite.
