SEC Jersey Guide: Player threads available to purchase for the 2015 season
What will you be donning on gamedays this season?
Jerseys aren’t quite as common as they used to be (most fans prefer the coaches ‘official’ sideline polos now), but they’re still a unique way to show your spirit amongst thousands of friends rooting for the same team.
And the best thing about generic, unnamed college football jerseys?
You never have to worry about free agency or a player being traded. Your jersey, should you choose to keep it in the rotation, will last as long as you want.
Here’s a list of players available in men’s sizes by school this season. We’ve scoured athletic apparel sites and team stores for officially-licensed product only, not the knock-offs you sometimes see at games with player names on the back:
2015 SEC players jerseys available to the public
ALABAMA (Nike)
- No. 4; home or away (Daylon Charlot)
- No. 9; away (Da’Shawn Hand, Bo Scarbrough)
- No. 10; home or away (Reuben Foster)
- No. 15; home or away (J.K. Scott)
- No. 27; home or away (Shawn Burgess-Becker)
- No. 33; away (Anfernee Jennings)
Quick look: Shame on Derrick Henry for switching numbers during the offseason! His familiar No. 27 is available in home crimson and white road with several different styles (authentic vs. replicas), but his new numeral (2) is nowhere to be found unless you’re a customizer. Last year’s Henry jersey is available for $135 at Alabama’s team store or you can grab it on sale for $80 on Nike. Dick’s Sporting Goods is the only site to sell Alabama’s No. 9 and No. 33 jerseys.
ARKANSAS (Nike)
- No. 1; home (Jared Cornelius)
- No. 64; throwback home or home (Klint Harvey)
- No. 86; home (Howie Stettmeier)
Quick look: Fans wanting a Brandon Allen, Jonathan Williams or Alex Collins jersey are out of luck this season. Your options are sophomore wide receiver Jared Cornelius (No. 1), reserve tight end Howie Stettmeier (No. 86) and a generic version of last season’s throwback model (N0. 64, now worn by freshman OL Klint Harvey). The Razorbacks’ team store does have a couple alternate and road options left over from the 2012 and 2013 seasons in limited quantities.
AUBURN (Under Armour)
- No. 1; home or away (Duke Williams)
- No. 14; home or away (Stephen Roberts)
Quick look: Auburn’s choices are awfully weak for fans, part of the problem with never altering your uniform (tradition). The generic No. 1 that’s available happens to be Duke Williams this season, so that jersey has obvious starpower. Unlike Nike, Under Armour’s jerseys don’t have the on-field feel and aren’t tackle-twill. Screen-printed numerals and graphis is all you get for $80. If you don’t like the current options, you could always spring for the familiar Cam Newton or Bo Jackson jerseys. They’re still available to purchase via Fanatics in the home blue Under Armour set along with Tre Mason, Nick Fairley, Karlos Dansby, Ronnie Brown and Jason Campbell. They’re not accurate, however. The Tigers were only an Under Armour school under Newton and Mason.
FLORIDA (Nike)
- No. 1; home, away or alternate (Vernon Hargreaves)
- No. 96; home (CeCe Jefferson)
Quick look: Finally, a team with quality players available! Vernon Hargreaves’ blue home No. 1 jersey has been marked down at Nike from $120 to $70 in scattered sizes. The swoosh also has the orange home alternate look. Head over to Florida’s team store if you want the white road Hargreaves or the home version of true freshman five-star CeCe Jefferson (No. 96).
GEORGIA (Nike)
- No. 1; home or away (Sony Michel)
- No. 3; home (Roquan Smith)
- No. 4; home (Keith Marshall)
- No. 11; home (Greyson Lambert)
- No. 15; home (D’Andre Walker)
- No. 26; home (Malcolm Mitchell)
Quick look: Notice a trend? Most teams sell a No. 1 jersey and a few happen to be standout players (if you’re lucky). Sony Michel’s No. 1 is available in two different colors at Nike for $90. Georgia’s team store has five different players to choose from and its home McKenzie jersey is the authentic, priced at $135. Roquan Smith’s No. 3 is available at Dick’s. Sadly, no Nick Chubb, Leonard Floyd or Lorenzo Carter. Expect a possible black alternate to become available at some point this season.
KENTUCKY (Nike)
- No. 1; home (A.J. Stamps, Ryan Timmons)
- No. 11; home (J.D. Harmon)
Quick look: Kentucky football is missing out on a major opportunity here. Only the Wildcats’ home jerseys with checkered sleeves have been made available to the public despite two alternates — black and grey — that would sell quickly.
LSU (Nike)
- No. 7; home or away (Leonard Fournette)
- No. 10; home or away (Anthony Jennings)
- No. 15; away (Malachi Dupre)
- No. 83, home (Travin Dural)
Quick look: Buga Nation should be excited this season. Leonard Fournette’s No. 7 is available in purple at Nike and white at the official team store. If you’re interested in supporting possible second-teamer Anthony Jennings under center, you have options. Star wideouts Malachi Dupre and Travin Dural are also available for $90.
MISSISSIPPI (Nike)
- No. 1; alternate (Laquon Treadwell)
Quick look: Laquon Treadwell’s No. 1 red alternate is up for grabs at several different locations, but the pickings are slim after that for Ole Miss jerseys this season. You can order any number on the navy home look for $85 via the team store.
MISSISSIPPI STATE (Adidas)
- No. 15; alternate (Dak Prescott)
- No. 17; home or away (Deontay Evans)
- No. 27; home (Aeris Williams)
Quick look: Over at Hail State Store, Dak Prescott’s white Egg Bowl alternate can be had for $60, but it’s not 2015-friendly (won’t be worn this fall). Potential playmaker Aeris Williams’ maroon No. 27 is another option in limited quantities.
MISSOURI (Nike)
- No. 1; home or alternate (Marvin Zanders)
- No. 7; home, away or alternate (Maty Mauk)
Quick look: Buy a Maty Mauk jersey this month and you’ll have it the next two seasons. There’s three replica options out there — black, gold and white. Mauk’s white home jersey — the toughest to find — is available at Fan’s Edge for $90.
SOUTH CAROLINA (Under Armour)
- No. 1; home or away (Rico McWilliams, Deebo Samuel)
- No. 17; home, away, alternate (Chaz Elder)
- No. 28; home, away, alternate (Jonathan Walton)
Quick look: Several seasons old, that Alshon Jeffery jersey hanging in the closet will come in handy this season. Two projected starters will wear No. 1 for the Gamecocks and if you need an updated version with sleeve stripes, it’s available for $80. That No. 28 you’re seeing isn’t Mike Davis this fall, it belongs to Jonathan Walton, a budding star on defense. According to Spurs & Feathers, USC athletic director Ray Tanner says the university has decided to follow the lead of others and only officially sell No. 1 and No. 15 this season — 1 representing the No. 1 fan and 15 signifying 2015 season. As of now, other numbers can be had elsewhere.
TENNESSEE (Nike)
- No. 16; home, away, alternate (retired)
Quick look: The first Vols Nike jersey to be made available is Peyton Manning’s familiar No. 16 in three different colors — white, orange and smokey grey. Despite the absurd price of $135 for the Nike ‘Limited’ style (which includes sewn on numerals), they’re selling quickly. The replica version is cheaper. there are plenty of Adidas leftovers at Tennessee’s team store, but who wants those when the swoosh has arrived?
TEXAS A&M (Adidas)
- No. 12; home or away (Sam Moeller)
Quick look: Manziel Mania continues at most Aggie apparel outlets and there’s no luck this season for fan favorites Kyle Allen, Myles Garrett or Kyler Murray. Perhaps the three stripes brand will make Texas A&M’s black Halloween jersey available in October?
VANDERBILT (Nike)
- No. 14; home (Ryan White, Kyle Shurmur)
- No. 15; home (DeAndre Woods)
Quick look: Prepping for the future are we? The only Vanderbilt jersey available via the Commodores’ team store is their updated 2015 home black jersey (No. 14, four-star freshman QB Kyle Shurmur). Dick’s has two versions available, complete with sublimated anchor graphics on sleeves, for $90.
