SEC lands 5 teams in top 10 of updated SP+ rankings after Week 6

After a riveting Week 6, the SEC is sitting pretty in ESPN’s updated SP+ ratings.
There are 5 SEC teams in the top-10 this week: Oklahoma is 5th, Ole Miss is 6th, Alabama is 7th, Missouri is 9th, and Tennessee is 10th.
Oklahoma is now 5-0 after blanking Kent State 44-0 on Saturday. Sooners quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. passed for 162 yards with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions, as 2 of his scores went to Isaiah Sategna III. Oklahoma held Kent State to 135 total yards and 2-for-13 on third downs.
Ole Miss (5-0) is coming off a bye week after defeating LSU 24-19. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss had 385 yards from scrimmage and a passing touchdown to Cayden Lee in the upset win. The Rebels’ offense went 8-for-16 on third downs.
Alabama (4-1) defeated Vanderbilt 30-14 for a fourth straight win after dropping the season-opener to then-unranked Florida State. Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson threw for 340 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Jam Miller rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Missouri (5-0) had a bye in Week 6. The Tigers most recently routed UMass 42-6. Running back Ahmad Hardy had 130 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground.
Tennessee also had a bye week. The Volunteers beat Mississippi State 41-34 in overtime in their last game. DeSean Bishop sealed the win with a 25-yard rushing touchdown.
