CFB best mascots: SEC lands 6 in Top 16 of expert rankings

College football mascots are beloved by fan bases, and the SEC has six of the very best in college football, according to an expert poll conducted by Athlon Sports.

The expert poll consisted of voters such as former Alabama QB Greg McElroy and long-time college coach Lou Holtz.

Which six made the cut?

LSU’s Mike the Tiger and Georgia’s Uga finished No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. Alabama’s Big Al finished No. 9, the only other SEC mascot ranked in top 10. Tennessee’s Smokey was ranked No. 13, while Auburn’s War Eagle/Aubie was ranked No. 15. Florida’s Albert (and Alberta) finished No. 16.
