SEC names Player of the Week, Freshman of the Week in men’s hoops

The SEC begins league play in men’s basketball on Tuesday night, but first, there are weekly awards to hand out.
On Monday, the league office announced its Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, and the honorees did indeed have amazing games recently.
The Player of the Week is Alabama sophomore Jaden Shackelford, who scored 26 points in the Crimson Tide’s win over ETSU. He shot 8-for-13 from 3-point range to break out of a long slump.
The Freshman of the Week is LSU’s Cam Thomas, who had his third game of the year with at least 25 points in LSU’s win over Nicholls. He finished the game with 29 points.
