SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic shares takeaways following Week 10 action

SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic each week gives his opinion of SEC teams, and seeing South Carolina first-hand Saturday night against Vanderbilt, the former offensive lineman noted that the Gamecocks win seemed more dominant than the score would indicate.
“OL played great ball,” he tweeted. “54 was on fire pulling all night. Edwards is still probably undervalued nationally. Lot of doubles for Kinlaw but I think others benefited. QB seemed to calm down a little more compared to last week. Seemed much more dominant than score.”
About Mississippi State’s lopsided win over Arkansas, Cubelic wrote, “Looked like the OL & RB most of us expected before the season. Hill is as explosive as anyone when the space is there. Good to see Stevens back & efficient. Total control of this game from start to finish. Can they build on it to close the year out?”
Cubelic said Georgia is “right back in it” in terms of the postseason race following the win over Florida: “Time to start discussing this as a great defense. Caused problems all afternoon. OL got the job done. Saw 7 & 8 near the LOS often. Swift created when he had to. Fromm had time & hit some big throws. 55 was great at center. Cager pickup has been massive!”
For the Gators, Cubelic still sees a shot at 10 wins.
“Defense just couldn’t Harold up,” he wrote. “Greenard was great. Zuniga helped when he could. Had to overcommit to the box. With no balance that OL can’t hold up. Couldn’t find the 2 or 3 explosive plays they found in other big games this year. Great shot at back to back 10 wins.”
Here are the rest of his detailed takeaways:
VANDERBILT:
Concerned about where leadership is on this team. Body language & demeanor on the sideline was miserable in the 2nd half. Tough to get things opened up without Lipscomb in the lineup. Tried to force it to Vaughn. Losing QB early hurt. Nice drive to start then…— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 3, 2019
TENNESSEE:
Middle of the OL held up vs a really good front. Tackles struggled. They are much better in the run game. Turnovers made the game much different than it could have been. DL able to create havoc. Ugly pick took a score away. Chandler ran hard. Jennings masks a lot— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 3, 2019
MISSISSIPPI STATE:
Looked like the OL & RB most of us expected before the season. Hill is as explosive as anyone when the space is there. Good to see Stevens back & efficient. Total control of this game from start to finish. Can they build on it to close the year out?— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 3, 2019
MISSISSIPPI:
Like the plan on offense. Lot of misdirection & heavy on perimeter. OL held up better than I imagined. Plumlee is the guy, just a game changer & so tough to defend. Dynamic. Middle of the defense was solid. Great effort. Injuries just tough to deal with this late.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 3, 2019
FLORIDA:
Defense just couldn’t Harold up. Greenard was great. Zuniga helped when he could. Had to overcommit to the box. With no balance that OL can’t hold up. Couldn’t find the 2 or 3 explosive plays they found in other big games this year. Great shot at back to back 10 wins— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 3, 2019
AUBURN:
You take the win. DL kept OM from getting comfortable. 5 & 91 looked great. OL struggles to get a consistent push, 52 & 77 did some nice things though. Shot plays paid off. Need more QB runs. Tempo & misdirection kept defense off balance a little. 99 is very underrated— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 3, 2019
