SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic was on the call for the South Carolina-Kentucky game in Lexington on Saturday night. But he took in all of the SEC games on Saturday and offered his weekly reaction on Sunday.
Cubelic sees Alabama with a widening gap as the best team in America, while Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz just keeps getting it done. He also praised Kentucky for getting through a difficult season, and Texas A&M for having a team effort when it comes to running the ball.
Here are the Sunday takeaways:
We do it each week, my SundaySEC takeaways…
ALABAMA:
Widening gap as best team in America. The offense has the best RB, WR & C in the nation yet the QB could take the Heisman. Another great performance by the OL. Too much balance to handle on off. Def continues to grow.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 6, 2020
AUBURN:
Had opportunities. Couldn’t get off field on 3rd down, massive issue last 3 games. DL displaced too often. Great effort from RB’s & WR’s. OL was pretty good in run game. Run fits not great. Still some tackling issues. 9 & 20 strong on Def. Not many explosive in pass game.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 6, 2020
KENTUCKY:
Incredible accomplishment. I don’t know a team thats been through more than this group. You can see that it’s worn on them but the fight has not slowed. Great group of SR’s with a ton to be proud of. OL great. Terry solid. 4 superb on defense. Played 10 & that’s awesome— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 6, 2020
MISSOURI:
Drink keeps getting it done. Lost best player & kept fighting. Cool to see Bolton so engaged after ejection. OL looked great again. Larry keeps ponding. QB was on point. DL active but inconsistent. Def got a little lost as game went on. But found a way. 5-3 is damn good— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 6, 2020
TENNESSEE:
Tough when numbers so low. 6th straight loss by double digits. Nothing will calm down the frustration. The QB situation doesn’t allow for much on offense. Losing 55 was huge. He does so much. Thought 30 & 13 flashed as pass rushers. Just need something good to happen— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 6, 2020
TEXAS A&M:
OL was great. The other guys really block well though. WR/TE/FB/RB all help the run game go. Mond was exceptional in the 4th, made a few must have throws. Defense missed some reads but all in all was active & got stops late. A Smith value doesn’t get enough credit.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) December 6, 2020
