Jordan Rodgers’ pick is in for his Heisman Trophy winner, and the SEC Network analyst is going with LSU‘s Garrett Nussmeier to bring it home.
According to BetMGM, Nussmeier has the second-best odds (+800) to win the Heisman Trophy, only trailing Texas Longhorn quarterback Arch Manning. In his first full season as a starter, Nussmeier threw for 4,052 yards and had 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. Nussmeier ranked second in the SEC for both yards and touchdowns. Many praised Nussmeier for his passing numbers, but many also criticized him for his inconsistent decision-making.
LSU will open its season on the road against No. 4 Clemson, and Nussmeier will have a chance to start his argument for the Heisman Trophy. Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik trails Nussemeier by only a little (+900) and ranks third in the Heisman odds according to BetMGM.
Brian Kelly already has one Heisman Trophy winner under his belt in his tenure at LSU. Jayden Daniels won the award in 2023 over Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix.
Nussmeier will need to take a step forward from his season last year if he wants a chance to hoist the Heisman Trophy later this season.
