According to one analyst, Michigan State isn’t even the best team Alabama has played this season.

In fact, it’s not even the second-best.

Booger McFarland, an SEC Network analyst and former All-SEC defensive lineman at LSU, was on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” radio show this morning and stated that he thinks Ole Miss (9-3) and Tennessee (8-4) would both pose more of a problem against the Crimson Tide than the Spartans will.

He attributes that mostly to Michigan State’s lack of speed and athleticism. That coincides with the perception that the Big Ten is, and has been, too slow to compete with the SEC.

“I think that Ole Miss and Tennessee are going to be better matchups against Alabama,” McFarland said on Mike & Mike. “I just don’t think Michigan State is going to have the overall team speed or athleticism to play with Alabama. You can’t beat Alabama in a phone booth. We saw the best running back in America in Leonard Fournette at LSU try to do that.”
