The first-ever 8-game Saturday in the Southeastern Conference saw over 12 hours of college football drama and plenty of shakeups in hierarchy.

The SEC Now crew of Dari Nowhkah, Chris Doering and Benjamin Watson weighed in after all the smoke – literally and figuratively – cleared in Week 8 to offer their Top 5 conference rankings.

All three SEC Network analysts have Alabama (6-1 overall, 4-0 SEC) at No. 1 after the Tide defeated Tennessee 37-20, but they started to defer beyond that. Nowhkah and Doering have Georgia (6-1, 4-1) at No. 2 after edging Ole Miss 43-35, while Watson has Texas A&M (7-0, 4-0) at No. 2 after a nipping Arkansas 45-42. Nowhkah has the Aggies at No. 3, while Doering has them at No. 4.

Vanderbilt (6-1, 2-1) is all over the SEC Now crew’s lists, with the Commodores – who beat LSU 31-24 – at No. 3 with Doering, No. 4 with Nowhkah and No. 5 with Watson. Ole Miss (6-1, 3-1) is at No. 4 with Watson and No. 5 with Nowhkah and Doering.

We’ll see if the Week 9 leads to any shakeup in the crew’s top SEC teams. Next week’s slate includes Ole Miss at Oklahoma and Mizzou at Vanderbilt.
