The SEC Network’s SEC Football Final analysts have weighed in on which SEC teams stand out the most entering the November stretch run. All 3 ranked their top 5 conference squads.
Benjamin Watson went first. Watson had Georgia at No. 1, with the Bulldogs coming off that huge victory at Texas in Week 8 before enjoying a bye week. Watson had those Longhorns as his 2nd-best team in the SEC, after Texas bounced back by barely surviving Vanderbilt in Nashville. He had Texas A&M at No. 3 after the Aggies won their 7th straight game with a primetime takedown of LSU at Kyle Field.
Watson had Tennessee at No. 4, LSU at No. 5 and, well, no Alabama in his top-5 SEC rankings.
Chris Doering didn’t have Alabama in his top 5, either. The former Florida star quarterback had Georgia and Texas at No. 1 and 2, respectively, like Watson, but Doering had Tennessee at No. 3 and Texas A&M at No. 4 before finishing his top 5 with LSU.
Doering didn’t put Alabama on his list, but he did mention the Crimson Tide and how they will play LSU at Death Valley on Nov. 9, so that whole issue will settle itself out, he said.
Host Dari Nowkhah also had Georgia at No. 1, but he gave some love to the red-hot Aggies, putting Texas A&M at No. 2 on his list, 1 spot ahead of Texas. Nowkhah had Tennessee at No. 4 and LSU at No. 5, as the sport gets ready to welcome November football.
