The SEC Network’s studio team of Dari Nowkhah, Chris Doering, and Benjamin Watson discussed who the conference’s top teams were following Saturday’s action.

No. 1 and No. 2 were clear: Georgia and Alabama. But what about 3 through 5? Chris Doering rated Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Kentucky in that order.

“They played really well (against Alabama). They just didn’t win. I still believe in their defense.” he said of Texas A&M.

Watson, while rating Alabama No. 2 behind Georgia, said that the Crimson Tide were “ascending because of what Jalen Milroe has been able to do.” LSU, due to the play of Jayden Daniels, is his No. 3 team, followed by Missouri and Ole Miss. That caused a little back-and-forth between Doering and Watson, with Doering wondering why Watson ranked LSU higher than Ole Miss despite Ole Miss beating the Tigers a week ago.

Nowkhah slotted Ole Miss, LSU, and Texas A&M at 3 through 5, respectively, behind Georgia and Alabama.

“It’s tempting to take LSU out (of the top 5), but that was a big win on the road (against Missouri) and their offense is just so unbelievably good,” he added.
