SEC penalty report for Week 11: Florida now tied at the top with Alabama

For the past two weeks, Florida has been penalized a lot but still won games. The Gators were flagged for eight penalties last week in a 9-7 against Vanderbilt and got caught eight times again Saturday in a 24-14 win at South Carolina.

Their high penalty counts have drawn them even with Alabama as the most penalized team in the conference. Each has been whistled 67 times, and Alabama’s total penalty yardage is nearly 100 yards more. It’s surprising that the two teams who will likely play for the SEC championship in Atlanta are the two teams with the most penalties.

In Saturday’s biggest SEC upset, Arkansas surprised No. 9 LSU and was only penalized twice in the process. On the other side, the Tigers racked up seven penalties, costing them 46 yards.

Mississippi State and Auburn continue to be the least penalized teams in the league, with 39 and 40 penalties on the season, respectively. Here are the penalty totals for Week 11, and our running total for the season:
