There’s no question who found the end zone the most during the 2015 SEC season, as players such as Alabama’s Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette of LSU rewrote the record books of both the conference and their respective teams.
Fournette, the nation’s leading rusher by average (162.8 YPG in 12 games) and Henry, the SEC’s new single-season touchdown leader (28) and leading overall rusher (2,219 yards in 15 games), each found the end zone three or more times in a game on four occasions throughout the year.
The duo led the way, but they weren’t the only conference players with highlight-reel days, as 15 athletes produced 24 multiple-touchdown performances by scoring at least three touchdowns in a single game.
Joining Fournette in the elite company of players who scored five touchdowns in a game this year are Arkansas’ Alex Collins and Peyton Barber of Auburn. Barber is the only player to twice score four times or more in a single game.
Arkansas paced the SEC with the most efforts of three touchdowns or more. Razorback players accomplished the feat five times, all coming after Week 8. Four schools — Florida, Missouri, South Carolina and Texas A&M — failed to have a player score more than twice in a single contest.
As far as opponents, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson is the sole non-SEC player to score three-or-more times against the conference in a game, rushing for three scores against the Gamecocks in the regular-season finale.
