Auburn quarterback coach Mike Hartline is leaving the program for a new opportunity, per a report from FOX Sports and the Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.

Hartline, who joined the Tigers after 3 years as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Division 2 Ohio Dominican, is headed to Charlotte to be part of head coach Biff Poggi’s initial staff.

Prior to his time at Ohio Dominican and Auburn, Hartline was an offensive quality control coach and assistant QB coach at Cincinnati. That followed 2 seasons as a coaching intern at Ohio State.

The former Kentucky quarterback signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2011 after going undrafted. After being released, he was eventually signed by the New England Patriots.

Charlotte will begin play in the American Athletic Conference in 2023 after several years in Conference USA. Poggi, a successful high school head coach in Baltimore before becoming associate head coach at Michigan, was hired in November to replace Will Healy. The 49ers were 3-9 (2-6 C-USA) in 2022.
