SEC programs sit atop list of most players on active NFL rosters prior to Week 1

The NFL is back, ladies and gentlemen. The Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions kick off the 2023 NFL season tonight at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
Prior to the game, Action network’s Brett McMurphy revealed a list of the college football programs with the most former player on active NFL rosters heading into Week 1.
As you can guess, Alabama and Georgia led the way. The Tide are in a league of their own with 57 total players with Georgia in 2nd place with 49. Ohio State, LSU and Michigan sit behind them.

- Alabama: 57
- Georgia: 49
- LSU: 43
- Florida: 35
- Auburn: 26
- Ole Miss: 23
- Texas A&M: 23
- South Carolina: 21
- Tennessee: 21
- Kentucky: 17
- Arkansas: 15
- Mississippi State: 15
- Mizzou: 13
- Vanderbilt: 9
In total, there are 367 former SEC players on active NFL rosters heading into Week 1, the most of any conference. The Big Ten sits far behind in 2nd place with 288.
