Prop bets for the SEC’s second Saturday:
RB NICK CHUBB’S NUMBERS AGAINST VANDERBILT
Options — Less than 100 yards rushing; Between 101-125; Between 126-150; More than 150
Projection: Georgia’s star running back averaged 9.8 yards per carry against the Commodores last season as a reserve, but Derek Mason wasn’t calling the plays defensively (okay, maybe he was, but not as defensive coordinator). Stacking the box to stop Chubb this week could be a bad idea with Terry Godwin and Malcolm Mitchell waiting down field, but I’d imagine Vanderbilt will take its chances against Greyson Lambert. Chubb’s rushed for at least 100 yards in nine straight games. He’ll make it 10.
OVER/UNDER VIDEO BOARD REFERENCES IN AUBURN
Options — Twice or less; Three times; Four times; Five or more times
Projection: College football’s biggest and baddest video board makes its in-season debut Saturday afternoon at Jordan-Hare Stadium and should get plenty of action since the Tigers are a near five-touchdown favorite. And you’ll certainly hear about the $13.9 million addition early. I’ll guess it’s referenced three times — in the first half. Pre-game doesn’t count because you know SEC Network will give us a rundown of its specs with a special segment.
MISSISSIPPI STATE’S TOTAL OFFENSE VS. LSU
Options — Twice or less; Three times; Four times; Five or more times
Projection: One would think last year’s loss to Dak Prescott and Mississippi State still hurts for the Tigers. The Bulldogs waltzed into Death Valley, at night, and for three quarters dominated the nation’s eighth-ranked team. Prescott was fantastic, managing 373 total yards and three total touchdowns against John Chavis’ defense. More of the same Saturday night? Mississippi State hasn’t beaten LSU in Starkville since 1999 and in those seven losses, has averaged just 10.1 points per game. Prescott winning back-to-back against this division rival would be fitting and he’s going to need another monster effort to do so.
