SEC reveals Week 1 Players of the Week

The SEC released its players of the week and leading the pack was Alabama QB Bryce Young. In his first start for the Crimson Tide in Alabama’s 44-13 victory over the Miami Hurricanes, Young threw for 344 yards and 4 touchdowns.

He was the first quarterback in Alabama history to throw for 4 touchdowns in his debut as a starter, surpassing the likes of the legendary Joe Namath and Mac Jones.

The SEC Defensive Player of the week was Georgia DB Christopher Smith. Smith had the only touchdown in the game in the Bulldogs’ 10-3 victory over Clemson. Smith returned a 74-yard interception for a touchdown. He also had 3 stops.

  • Special Teams: Will Reichard, K, Alabama
  • Defensive Line: Jordan Davis, NG, Georgia and Zachary Carter, DL, Florida
  • Offensive Line: Kenyon Green, OL, Texas A&M and Luke Fortner, C, Kentucky
  • Freshman: Debo Williams, LB, South Carolina and Caden Costa, K, Ole Miss
