SEC reveals Week 12 Players of the Week

The SEC’s Players of the Week for a riveting Week 12 were headlined by South Carolina freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who engineered a thrilling comeback win over Missouri and was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Sellers tossed the game-winning touchdown pass with 15 seconds left on Saturday, as the surging Gamecocks outlasted the Tigers, 34-30, to improve to 7-3. Sellers threw for 353 yards and 5 touchdowns in the win, and he also ran for 45 yards on 14 carries.

Florida linebacker Shemar James and Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron shared the Defensive Player of the Week award. James had 11 tackles, 5 of them solo, and 2 sacks to help the Gators knock off LSU at The Swamp. Barron had 7 tackles, 6 of them solo, 1 sack and 1 interception in the Longhorns’ victory at Arkansas.

Florida’s Trey Smack and Georgia’s Brett Thorson shared the Special Teams Player of the Week award, helping spearhead victories over LSU and Tennessee, respectively.

Texas’s Hayden Conner and Georgia’s Tate Ratledge were named co-Offensive Linemen of the Week, with both players helping backbone wins in Week 12 for the 2 SEC behemoths.

Texas’s Alfred Collins was named Defensive Lineman of the Week, recording 7 tackles, 4 of them solo, and 1 sack in the big road win against Arkansaas.

Last but certainly not least, Florida quarterback DJ Lagway was named Freshman of the Week. Lagway had 226 yards passing with 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions, leading the resurgent Gators to an upset of LSU in Gainesville.
