Florida’s recent trend downwards certainly had an effect on the point spread for the Gators’ upcoming game.
Florida is actually an underdog to Florida State. Sure, it’s just a one-point spread but that would have sounded ludicrous when the season began. The Seminoles were coming off of a lackluster 3-6 season while Florida was expected to be an SEC championship contender.
The Gators were on the rise after an 8-4 season in 2020 in which they won the SEC Eastern Division. Since then, Florida has fallen on hard times. The Gators are 5-6 and fired head coach Dan Mullen a day after Florida lost to Missouri 24-23 in overtime on Saturday.
The Egg Bowl certainly has some intrigue as Ole Miss is just a 2 ½-point favorite against Mississippi State. Clemson is a 14-point favorite over South Carolina despite the Gamecocks’ recent improvement. South Carolina has won two of its last three games including a win against Auburn on Saturday.
