Rookie rewind: How the SEC’s true freshmen fared in Week 2

The future is as bright as the present for the SEC, as a number of true freshmen have already broken into their teams’ lineups and made an impact just two weeks into the season.

Let’s take a team-by-team look at all the true freshmen who made a difference in Week 2:

  • Alabama: Linebacker Rashaan Evans had two tackles including a tackle for loss, a sack and a quarterback hurry in a 41-0 win over Florida Atlantic.
  • Arkansas: Wide receiver Jared Cornelius had two carries for 51 yards and a touchdown in the Razorbacks’ 73-7 win over Nicholls State. He also had two rushes for 14 yards in a game with plenty of yards and points to go around. Fellow freshman wideout Kendrick Edwards added a 24-yard reception. Linebacker Khalia Hackett was tied for second on the team with five tackles and a forced fumble, and defensive tackle Bijhon Jackson recorded three tackles and a tackle for loss.
  • Auburn: Tailback Roc Thomas carried the ball nine times for 51 yards and a touchdown in a 59-13 win over San Jose State.
  • Florida: Highly touted quarterback Treon Harris completed both of his pass attempts for 148 yards and two touchdowns in a season-opening win over Eastern Michigan. Tailback Brandon Powell amassed three rushes for 24 yards and touchdown, and wideout C.J. Worton caught one pass for eight yards. Defensive back Duke Dawson intercepted a pass and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown and fellow defensive back Quincy Wilson was fourth on the team with four tackles.
  • Georgia: Bye week.
  • Kentucky: Tailback Stanley “Boom” Williams carried the ball five times for 60 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown in the first quarter of a 20-3 victory over Ohio. Fellow tailback Mikel Horton carried the ball 10 times for 45 yards. Wide receiver Dorian Baker had two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown, while fellow wideouts Blake Bone and T.V. Williams combined to catch two passes for 17 yards.
  • LSU: Tailback Leonard Fournette made up for a poor performance in Week 1 with 13 carries for 92 yards and his first career touchdown in a 56-0 win over Sam Houston State. He also caught two passes for 32 yards. Fellow tailback Darrel Williams added 14 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Brandon Harris completed 4-of-5 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown, and added five rushes for 53 yards and another touchdown on the ground. Wideout Malachi Dupre caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown, while fellow receiver Trey Quinn also caught two passes for 26 yards. Defensive end Sione Teuhema made four tackles and registered two sacks in the win, and safety Jamal Adams tied for fourth on the team with five tackles.
  • Mississippi State: Wide receiver Jamoral Graham returned two punts a total of 22 yards in a 47-34 win over UAB in Starkville.
  • Missouri: Tailback Ish Witter carried the ball four times for just one net yard in a 49-24 win over Toledo.
  • Ole Miss: Wideout Markell Pack returned one punt for 24 yards in a 41-3 win over Vanderbilt. Defensive back Kendarius Webster tied for fourth on the team with three tackles and a pass breakup, and fellow defensive back A.J. Moore added two tackles and a pass breakup.
  • South Carolina: Cornerback Al Harris Jr. recorded just one tackle and had no pass breakups in a 33-23 win over East Carolina. Linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams added a tackle and a quarterback hurry.
  • Tennessee: Tailback Jalen Hurd led the Volunteers with 23 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown in a 34-19 win over Arkansas State. Tight end Ethan Wolf caught five passes for 20 yards, and wideout Josh Malone caught one pass for 14 yards. Place kicker Aaron Medley was 2-of-3 on field goal, with makes from 20 and 38 yards away and a miss from 35 yards out. He was also 4-of-4 on extra points. Defensive end Derek Barnett recorded three tackles and a sack. Defensive back Todd Kelly Jr. made five tackles, while defensive lineman Dimarya Wilson added three tackles.
  • Texas A&M: Backup quarterback Kyle Allen made his A&M debut in garbage time of a 73-3 win over Lamar, completing 12-of-16 passes for 122 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Receiver Speedy Noil caught four passes for 71 yards, and defensive back Nick Harvey had one punt return fr 30 yards. Fellow defensive back Armani Watts was second on the team with six tackles, including a tackle for loss.
  • Vanderbilt: Tailback Dallas Rivers had five rushes for 23 yards in a loss to Ole Miss. Linebacker Hawkins Mann added three tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss.
