SEC Shorts never disappoints, but when the final grades for SEC football teams in 2024 were released on Monday morning, well, there were some disappointing marks to be sure.

For the second straight season, the conference that has been a perennial pigskin powerhouse did not have a participant in the national championship game. Alabama didn’t even make the College Football Playoff in Kalen DeBoer’s first season. Georgia made it but was underwhelming in a quarterfinal loss to Notre Dame without starting quarterback Carson Beck.

Tennessee got in the Playoff, too, but was gone in a flash after getting blown out by eventual national champion Ohio State in the first round. Texas was in the Playoff, too, but lost to the Buckeyes in the semifinals.

When the Longhorns left the party, the SEC did, too, and so not only did Georgia not win its 3rd national title in 4 years, the SEC got shut out of the title game spotlight again, with the Big Ten taking center stage, again.

This doesn’t mean the grades were all bad for every SEC team, as SEC Shorts made sure to give its just due to the programs that deserved it. Overall though, there was no national champion, so the grades as a whole fell short of what the once-mighty conference is used to.

Here are the final 2024 grades, complete with some fun and games, courtesy of SEC Shorts:
