The Mississippi State Bulldogs won their 11th straight game dating back to last season with Saturday’s 17-10 win over Arkansas, marking the second-longest streak in school history and the second-longest active streak in the nation. Only Florida State has a longer active winning streak with 24 consecutive wins since the end of the 2012 season.
Bulldogs’ tailback Josh Robinson extended his streak of games with a rushing touchdown to seven in a row, and defensive end Preston Smith recorded a tackle for loss for a seventh consecutive game as well. Quarterback Dak Prescott accounted for a touchdown for a 10th straight game, and middle linebacker Benardrick McKinney recorded a tackle in his 34th straight contest on Saturday.
Here are some other streaks from around the SEC that were extended or ended this weekend:
Arkansas: The Razorbacks snapped Mississippi State’s streak of eight consecutive games scoring at least 34 points when they held the Bulldogs to just 17 points Saturday. Unfortunately, the Hogs still lost 17-10 on the road in Starkville.
Auburn: The Tigers’ offense picked up at least 20 first downs for a 13th straight game by amassing 23 in Saturday’s win over Ole Miss. Wideout Sammie Coates also had a reception in a 15th straight game.
Georgia: The Bulldogs snapped a three-game winning streak over Florida in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party rivalry with their loss in Jacksonville on Saturday.
Kentucky: Quarterback Patrick Towles snapped a streak of 159 pass attempts without an interception when he was picked off by Missouri’s Aarion Penton in Saturday’s loss to the Tigers.
Ole Miss: The Rebels forced a turnover for a 32nd straight game in Saturday’s loss to Auburn, extending the longest active streak in the nation.
South Carolina: Place kicker Elliott Fry missed a 37-yard field goal in the first half of the Gamecocks’ loss to Tennessee, snapping a streak of 12 straight made field goals since Week 1.
Tennessee: The Volunteers snapped their eight-game losing streak when donning their all-white “Stormtrooper” uniforms with their road win over South Carolina on Saturday.
Texas A&M: The Aggies earned bowl eligibility following Saturday’s win over Louisiana-Monroe, marking the sixth straight year they’ve earned a postseason berth. Texas A&M’s six straight bowl berths also mark a school record for consecutive postseason appearances.
Vanderbilt: The Commodores won their 10th straight November game dating back to the 2012 season with Saturday’s 42-28 win over Old Dominion.
