Sunday’s installment of Nike’s The Opening regional competition camp in Dallas was loaded with premiere talent, and a few SEC targets were among the standout participants.
Listed below are the uncommitted prospects with SEC offers included in the eight invitees to the The Opening Finals in July at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. (ratings and rankings referenced use 247Sports composite):
- Five-star S Jeffrey Okudah is rated as the top prospect at his position in the class of 2017. Okudah, from Grand Prairie, Texas, has a long list of offers and has reciprocated interest with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M.
- Five-star LB Baron Browning, from Kennedale, Texas, is the No. 2 outside linebacker of the class. Browning has shown interest in offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
- Four-star LB Anthony Hines of Plano, Texas, the No. 2 ILB of the class, has mutual interest with Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri and Vanderbilt.
- Three-star OG Xavier Newman, who won the camp’s offensive lineman MVP honors, has offers from Mississippi State and Missouri.
Tennessee target Kaegun Williams, a three-star all-purpose back, did not receive a golden ticket to Oregon, but he was recognized as the camp’s running backs MVP.
