SEC to hold free concert with Grammy-nominated headliner at 2023 Media Days
SEC Media Days in 2023 will feature a free concert for fans when it makes its debut in Nashville next month.
The league announced on Thursday the concert will take place on July 18, one day after the media event begins. Grammy-nominated band Midland will serve as the headliner. The group formed in Dripping Springs, Texas, in 2014 and won New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year at the ACM Awards in 2018. They’ve been nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song at the Grammy Awards.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. ET. It’ll be part of a special edition of SEC Nation that’ll air on ESPN2 and SEC Network beginning at 7 p.m.
For years, the SEC has held its annual media event — the unofficial kickoff of the new football season — in Hoover, Alabama. The show has gone on the road 3 times now, with this marking its first trip to Nashville. As such, the league is going all out.
“We are excited to bring SEC Football Media Days to Nashville as we kick off the 2023 season,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “When we began moving SEC Media Days to new locations, we wanted to enjoy the experiences uniquely present in each community and we look forward to the Tuesday night concert blending Music City with SEC Football.”
The concert will take place on Lower Broadway, with the stage near Fourth and Broadway.
This year’s event will be held July 17-20 at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Nashville. The full schedule for the event can be found here.
