The SEC West drew national attention for performances in Week 8 as ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit praised a pair of players.

In his weekly best performances list, Herbstreit listed LSU as the No. 4 team following the Tigers’ solid 40-24 win at Ole Miss sparked by a big game from running back Derrius Guice. Guice rushed for 276 yards and a touchdown as LSU won its third straight game in SEC play. Guice’s 126 yards by halftime were already a season high. Perhaps the Tigers were extra motivated because of coach Ed Orgeron’s return to face a team he used to coach.

Another SEC player that made Herbstreit’s list was inside linebacker Rashaan Evans, who was injured in the win over Tennessee, but still had six tackles, including two for a loss.
