Clemson had to fend off a second-half push from Syracuse in what ultimately became a 47-21 victory. But the Tigers needed a defensive touchdown to gain some breathing room late in the third quarter. Syracuse pulled within 27-21 with 8:41 left in the third quarter.

Questions centered on the offense, and a perceived low energy level. Clemson was 8-for-17 on third down and had 455 total yards, with a turnover, while the defense forced four turnovers of Syracuse. Clemson had 147 rushing yards on 37 carries.

“I just want to make sure we’re at the right press conference,” coach Dabo Swinney said. “We did win the game. I think. Am I in the right spot?”

Then later added, “You’re not going to get any negative stuff with me.”
