Sepp Straka, who won on the PGA Tour last weekend, was a guest on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Tuesday, and talked as much about marrying an Auburn graduate, as his golf prowess.
Straka, who is a proud former Georgia golfer, said jokingly that his wife is “evil, but nobody’s perfect,” before he explained that they met through a mutual friend, an Auburn golfer, at a football game.
Finebaum asked him how he can overcome a fierce SEC rivalry to find his way to the altar.
“We don’t watch the game together, so that helps,” he said. “I think it’s smart that way, I think we’ll keep it that way. I think personally our relationship and our marriage has been great for Georgia football, so I’m going to try to keep that going.”
Straka said his wife is a huge Auburn supporter across any sport.
“It’s fun having that, but that week is definitely a little more tense in our marriage,” he said.
As for the recent national championship game, Straka said his wife didn’t pull for either side and instead preferred some kind of “bad tie” to end it.
“She definitely wasn’t pulling for Alabama, but she also wasn’t pulling for Georgia,” he said. “I think I’ve made her hate Georgia a lot more than she used to, because I’m a little bit obnoxious when we do win.”
Straka also said that his wife and family will make the trip to Augusta National next month for The Masters.
