Sha’Carri Richardson, former LSU sprinter, snags 100m gold at world championships

Sha’Carri Richardson won gold for the 100 meters at the 2023 world championships in Budapest, Hungary Monday afternoon.
The 23-year-old beat out Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for the gold, coming from behind in the final 30 meters or so for the win after a bad jump. She finished with a time of 10.65.

Richardson ran 1 season for LSU in 2019 (not a bad year for LSU athletics). The above race was her first world championships final appearance. She made national headlines in 2021 for being disqualified from her Olympic trials victory following a positive marijuana test.
Richardson will go for the double gold later this week when she attempts the 200 meters.
