Sha’Carri Richardson won gold for the 100 meters at the 2023 world championships in Budapest, Hungary Monday afternoon.

The 23-year-old beat out Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for the gold, coming from behind in the final 30 meters or so for the win after a bad jump. She finished with a time of 10.65.

Richardson ran 1 season for LSU in 2019 (not a bad year for LSU athletics). The above race was her first world championships final appearance. She made national headlines in 2021 for being disqualified from her Olympic trials victory following a positive marijuana test.

Richardson will go for the double gold later this week when she attempts the 200 meters.
