Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks got a big win on Saturday as they knocked off Missouri, 34-30, in a battle of ranked teams.
This was the first time that South Carolina had defeated Missouri in 6 years, with its last win in 2018.
It was a back-and-forth affair that saw both teams score extremely late. The Tigers took a 30-27 lead with 1:10 remaining after Luther Burden III caught a 37-yard touchdown pass. However, LaNorris Sellers led the team down the field and hit Rocket Sanders on a 15-yard pass with 15 seconds left to win the game.
After the big win, Beamer talked to the media about that game-winning drive.

“We were lucky to have 3 timeouts on that drive,” Beamer said. “Once we hit the pass to Dalevon Campbell, we knew we were in field goal range. We’re not playing for overtime, and I am sure you guys are going to ask me about some of the 4th down calls. We were aggressive tonight. We weren’t playing for overtime, but we also wanted to be smart. We were thinking about running it and using a timeout if we didn’t get it. It was a great way to finish.”
The score was Sellers’ fifth touchdown pass of the game, setting a new career-high. And it helped South Carolina to a fourth consecutive win. The Gamecocks sit at 7-3 heading into the final 2 weeks of the season. They have a chance to hit double-digit wins for the first time since 2013 and have already secured their best record in league play since 2017.
South Carolina will be at home next week against Wofford before closing out the year with Clemson on the road.
