Shane Beamer delivers final desperate CFP pitch throughout Championship Weekend

Shane Beamer and his South Carolina program are likely to be on the outside looking in when the final 12-team College Football Playoff bracket is revealed on Sunday. However, he’s not letting the Gamecocks go quietly into the night.

South Carolina appears roadblocked from the Playoff after landing at No. 14 overall on the final rankings before Championship Weekend. CFP committee chair Warde Manuel has also expressed that teams inactive this past weekend would not be able to improve their body of work any further.

However, some fans and media (and Beamer himself) have an issue with those comments. Many felt that the results of Championship Weekend, including Clemson’s ACC Championship over SMU, should improve or add another data point in favor of the Gamecocks.

South Carolina ended the year on a 6-game winning streak, including a hard-fought win over that very Clemson team on the road. And as many expressed support for the Gamecocks on social media, Beamer was there to echo those sentiments with one final desperation pitch to the CFP committee.
