Shane Beamer’s South Carolina Gamecocks will again be without receiver Corey Rucker as they take on Missouri on Saturday.

Rucker, who suffered a stress fracture in his foot, will miss his seventh straight game. The Gamecock receiver has played in only 2 games this season, but impressed when he did play, reeling in a 52-yard reception for a TD against Charlotte in Week 4. Prior to his 2022 transfer to South Carolina, Rucker racked up 75 receptions for 1,279 yards and 14 touchdowns in 20 games at Arkansas State.

Since he’s spent limited time on the field for the Gamecocks this season, Rucker could opt for a redshirt season, and have more time to spend with in South Carolina. According to NCAA rules, Rucker could play in up to 4 games this season without losing eligibility. According to Beamer, there’s a good chance that redshirting will be Rucker’s choice.

“I think it’s probably trending in that direction. If he’s able to get healthy this season, it’s probably going to be to the point where you can play him this season and preserve some games. It’s kind of a day-to-day thing with him.”

The 5-2 Gamecocks take on Missouri this Saturday in SEC action.
