Shane Beamer told a story about Xavier Legette recently that shouldn’t surprise South Carolina fans.

Beamer appeared on SEC Network Friday and talked about examples of Legette’s work ethic.

There was one instance where Legette called Beamer at 10:30 p.m. in the evening, asking for the head coach to talk to the security guard so the South Carolina wideout could get extra practice in.

“There was a night back in the summertime where Xavier calls me at 10:30 on a Friday night. When you get a phone call on a Friday you get worried,” Beamer said. “He wanted me to get on the phone with the security guard here at the facility because he wanted some extra work in the indoor. I asked him,” ‘What are you doing at the facility right now?’ His answer was, ‘What do you want me to do, be out at Five Points right now at a bar?'”

Legette’s work ethic is starting to show this season. He was the fastest player from Week 4, clocking in at 22.3 mph against Mississippi State.

He has a career-high 556 yards and 3 touchdowns already this season. He’s also averaging more than 20 yards per reception.

Kickoff between South Carolina and Tennessee is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
