Shane Beamer will be without Juju McDowell for the remainder of the 2023 season after a broken collarbone.

Beamer confirmed the news at the post game press conference following South Carolina’s 46-7 win over Vanderbilt. McDowell had 2 yards rushing and 18 yards receiving before exiting.

McDowell has played in 9 games this season with 3 total touchdowns. The backfield will lose some depth with 2 very important games left on the schedule in Kentucky and Clemson.

McDowell’s career high in rushing yards came during the 2021 season, where he had 248 yards on the ground that season. He had 148 scrimmage yards before the injury.

South Carolina moved to 4-6 after beating the Commodores in the 15th straight game. The road to a bowl berth will have to be without McDowell.

Beamer has reached a bowl game in each of his seasons in Columbia. Beamer won the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in 2021 and lost in the Gator Bowl last year.

Up next is Kentucky.
