South Carolina will be down one of its receivers as the Gamecocks prepare to take on Kentucky at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday.

According to Shane Beamer on his weekly call-in radio show on Thursday, the team will be without Xavier Legette. The junior was involved in a “traffic incident” and “should be back soon”, per Beamer.

Leggette has not recorded a catch thus far this season but has appeared in 2 games for the Gamecocks in 2021. As a sophomore, he played in 6 games, making 7 catches for 113 yards. He appeared in all but 1 game as a freshman, making 9 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. His progress during his time with the Gamecocks has been marked by injuries, with a minor one flaring up in the spring after missing the last 4 games of last year.

On Tuesday, Beamer had noted that Legette was “questionable” against the Wildcats but added that the injuries he sustained during the incident weren’t major.

Kickoff from Columbia is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
