The Shane Beamer era at South Carolina got off to an impressive start Saturday night as the Gamecocks rolled to a 46-0 victory over Eastern Illinois in their season opener.

As South Carolina looks ahead to its game next Saturday at East Carolina, it should have key performers on both sides of the ball who missed the opener available to play against the Pirates.

Running back Kevin Harris and backup quarterback Luke Doty missed the opener due to illness and injury, respectively, but Beamer confirmed that they will be ready for action next week.

“Kevin will be back (Sunday); he was out with an illness and should be full speed at practice (Sunday) night,” Beamer said during his postgame press conference. “We expect Luke to be full speed by the end of the week.”

Also back next week against East Carolina is senior safety R.J. Roderick, who is expected to be a key contributor in the secondary.

Roderick was suspended for the Eastern Illinois game.
