Shane Matthews releases statement following prison sentencing for involvement in fraud scheme

If you missed the news Monday, former Florida quarterback Shane Matthews was sentenced to three months in prison for his role in a fraudulent healthcare company started by his former Gator teammate Monty Grow.

Grow has yet to be sentenced for his shady business practices but Matthews got word of his sentencing this week. Grow could get as much as 20 years in prison, considering Matthews is only getting a few months, that would indicate his role in the business was not nearly as significant as Grow’s. It should also be noted that Matthews cooperated with the authorities investigation, which likely aided his lean sentencing.
