Former Florida DB Monty Grow is facing a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted for running a massive healthcare fraud scheme.

Grow will be sentenced in the coming months, but his conviction, which could end up being for as long as 20 years, was given by a jury in Miami on Monday.

According to a report from Jay Weaver of the Miami Herald, Grow won’t be the only ex-Gator behind bars as part of this scheme. Former Florida QB Shane Matthews will serve three months in prison for his smaller role in the fraud:

Grow wasn’t the only former UF Gator and NFL player caught in the patient-referral scheme: Last week, Matthews, 47, who played with the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins and other teams over a 14-year pro career, was sentenced to three months in prison for his bit role working for Grow’s marketing company. Matthews was paid $440,000 for lining up sales representatives who then landed TRICARE patients for the pharmacy.

The investigators claim Grow set up a pyramid scheme to take advantage of people who needed healthcare.

Whether he ends up getting the full 20 years remains to be seen, but Matthews has been sentenced and will serve three months behind bars.
