Shocker: Mizzou LB likely to miss rest of the season after surgery for pectoral injury

Kelly Bryant is expected to be fine, but Missouri’s post-Troy injury report had some devastating news.

Tigers LB Cale Garrett is expected to miss the rest of the 2019 season after needing surgery for a pectoral injury. Rock M Nation notes that Garrett did not play in the second half of the Week 6 game against Troy, but there was no indication he had a serious injury, making Sunday’s breaking news somewhat shocking for Tigers fans. Garrett did not meet with the media after the Troy game. He will reportedly have surgery on Tuesday.

Garrett, in his fourth year at MU, was the field general for the Tigers defense. Coming off an All-SEC (Pro Football Focus) 2018 season, Garrett was looking like a potential All-American, having notched defensive scores in three games already. Against Troy, Garrett had two interceptions (including a pick-six), six total tackles (3 TFL) and two quarterback hurries.

Garrett leads Missouri in tackles (43 total) and interceptions (3) through the first five games of the 2019 season.
