Former Auburn offensive tackle Shon Coleman completed 22 successful reps during the 225-pound bench press portion of the NFL Combine on Thursday.
But when it comes time to take part in on-the-field workouts in Indianapolis, Coleman will have to sit things out.
According to a report from AL.com’s Brandon Marcello, Coleman revealed Thursday that he is recovering from MCL surgery that he underwent following the 2015 season.
In fact, Marcello reports that Coleman may not be cleared by doctors to resume that type of activity until mid-April.
“It was something I was looking forward to,” he said. “I really believe I’m one of the more athletic big men out here. For me to not be able to come out and be able show that, it’s very frustrating. At the same time I have a plan to come back and get everything ready.”
The report states that the injury occurred during a contest against Georgia back in November.
While this news doesn’t help Coleman’s draft stock, it may not hurt it that much either. The left tackle is considered to be an early-round option in the NFL Draft.
