A tragic auto accident claimed the life of former Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen about a year and a half ago, but his sister brought it back to life with a touching tribute.
Philip lost his life in a fatal crash on June 29, 2014 while riding legally drunk, along with the driver of the vehicle, at the time of the wreck. However, instead of mourning his death, his sister Abby celebrated his life by scripting a touching tribute to her brother for Derek Jeter’s website, “The Player’s Tribune.”
Abby, now a soccer player at the University of Alabama, stresses the importance of life choices when it comes to drinking and driving but also speaks light-heartedly as she reveals her close bond with Philip.
Abby talks about her brother’s character and being the kind of guy who ” … wasn’t just the guy you bring home to mom. He was the one you bring home to grandma.” She also recalled a time he got caught watching “Aladdin” with kids.
The essay in its entirety, called “The Big Kid,” can be found here.
