Will Muschamp’s 5-year run at South Carolina was, by all accounts, pretty much an unmitigated disaster.

It’s been nearly two years since Muschamp was fired by the Gamecocks and he’s done a solid job since then as an assistant at his alma mater, Georgia, which is coming off a national championship season.

But observers aren’t likely to soon forget what transpired, or didn’t transpire, under his watch in Columbia, with ESPN’s Skip Bayless being the most recent to offer a reminder on Monday.

“Every time I look up, (somebody’s) from South Carolina,” Bayless said Monday on UNDISPUTED. “Makes me wonder, Will Muschamp had a lot of talent at South Carolina. Maybe it’s why he’s no longer at South Carolina.”

In spite of lofty expectations and some solid recruiting classes, Muschamp posted an overall mark at South Carolina of 28-30 and a 17-22 record in SEC play.

The Gamecocks, who are now in their second year under Shane Beamer, open their 2022 campaign on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET at home against Georgia State.
