Georgia saw its 29-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday, as Alabama knocked the Bulldogs off, 27-24. With the loss, the Bulldogs now have to hope the College Football Playoff committee sees them as one of the 4 best teams in college football,, and puts them in the Playoff.
One reason why the Bulldogs lost on Saturday was the play of Alabama QB Jalen Milroe. Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon talked after the game about how tough it is to stop Milroe.
“With how great of an athlete as he is, you know, it is a real big challenge,” Mondon said. “As far as defending him, there were some plays he made, but some plays we could have done better. On that last drive, we just have to finish better.”
Milroe didn’t put up crazy numbers, as he finished with 192 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. However, he really hurt the Bulldogs at big times, getting numerous runs on key plays. The biggest moment was when Georgia had just cut the game to 27-24 with 2:52 remaining.
On the first play of the drive, Milroe rushed for 30 yards and helped the team pull away.
Milroe and the Crimson Tide now will wait and see if they will be in the College Football Playoff.
