SMU coach Rhett Lashlee made some interesting comments in his postgame press conference on Saturday night.

His SMU team defeated Boston College 38-28 in a closer-than-expected affair to remain perfect in ACC play. However, he was frustrated with a tackling technique used by the Eagles in the game.

He said Boston College players were intentionally trying to twist quarterback Kevin Jennings’ ankles at the end of plays.

“For whatever reason, every time they were tackling Kevin Jennings, they were trying to twist his ankle,” Lashlee said. “I don’t know why. We told the officials. They can’t see it. And if they can’t see it, they can’t call it, so I appreciate that. But that’s bad ball.”

Jennings has been one of the ACC’s best quarterbacks since taking over as SMU’s starter in September. He had another stellar outing on Saturday night as he threw for 298 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.

SMU is now poised to move up in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night. The Mustangs are also now in position to potentially clinch a spot in the ACC Championship Game next weekend against Virginia.
