It looks like Bill Belichick knew what he was doing when he decided to finally use a first-round pick on a quarterback, taking Mac Jones. The former Alabama standout quarterback drew rave reviews in his NFL preseason debut.
The former Alabama standout received most of the playing time in Thursday night’s game against the Washington Football Team before Brian Hoyer eventually took over.
Jones finished with a line of 13-of-19 passing for 87 yards. He didn’t get his first NFL touchdown on Thursday night, but it wasn’t his fault as one perfectly placed pass resulted in an incompletion instead of a TD.
Here is what’s being said about Jones on social media:
I don’t want to overreact but, I think 31 different team’s fans were hoping Mac Jones would stink.. I HATE to say this but, it sure seems like he will not.

My goodness. Mac Jones put this ball right on Kristian Wilkerson's hands (and only where the WR could catch it). ?? pic.twitter.com/odjmGeahQP

Mac Jones oozes quiet confidence. It's like he's been in the NFL 10 years.

Initial reaction. @MacJones_10 sets his feet nicely. More anticipatory than Cam. Pats run & screen game have been strong. Solid opening drive. Didn’t see any nerves. pic.twitter.com/9ITDD7cHHG

If I were a Pats fan I’d feel really good about Mac Jones

The best aspect of this night for Mac Jones is that his game has traveled from practice field to game field tonight. His tempo, accuracy and command are precisely what we’ve seen in every camp practice except one.
