Social media reacts to DeVonta Smith’s monster 1st half in CFP Championship Game

Alabama leads Ohio State, 35-17, after one half of play in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
And it was a remarkable 1st half for DeVonta Smith—even by his standards.
The Heisman Trophy winner torched the Ohio State defense as he exploded for 12 catches, 215 yards, and 3 touchdowns in the first half, his 12 catches a new CFP Championship Game record. His 215 yards eclipsed Ohio State’s 191 yards as a team.
It has certainly been a 1st half to remember for the senior. And with Nick Saban’s team holding a sizeable lead, the Crimson Tide have a chance to continue to drive the knife into the backs of the Buckeyes as they get the ball back to begin the 2nd half.
No matter who you’re rooting for, it’s an absolutely legendary performance by Smith, one that will go down in college football history.
And there’s still 2 quarters to go. It’s anyone’s guess what Smith’s final tally will be before the evening is up.
Here’s a look at some of the reaction that poured in on Twitter throughout the 1st half:

DeVonta Smith: 12 for 215, 3 TDs … still in the first half. He's crushing the Buckeyes D and any hint of the old Heisman Jinx. Mercy.

This performance is beyond impressive for Devonta Smith. But the tOSU defense has just lost the best player on the field several times tonight.
