Country music legend Tim McGraw has sold over 40 million albums during his career, with songs such as “Live Like You Were Dying” among the most famous in his catalog. As a diehard LSU fan, and with the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in his home state of Louisiana, it was only natural for him to be part of the pregame festivities in New Orleans before his beloved team took on Clemson.

McGraw was joined on the Capital One Music Stage on Monday evening by fellow musician Shy Carter as the duo performed their song “Way Down.” And judging by the reaction on Twitter, the song and performance fell fairly flat as McGraw faced some heavy criticism from those watching on ESPN.

Hopefully for McGraw, his LSU Tigers can take the sting off of the pointed remarks he has received on Twitter following his pregame concert.
