UNC may have opened the season as the nation’s No. 1 team, but now the Tar Heels are not even in the mix for the Big Dance.
When things were revealed on Selection Sunday, one of the hottest topics across sports media was the exclusion off UNC and how far the program tumbled off from the original expectation in which the bar was set incredibly high.
The Tar Heels are the first preseason No. 1 team to miss the NCAA Tournament since the field expanded back in 1985. Several took to social media in reaction to the event:

You’ll have a hard time convincing me that Nevada is a better basketball team than UNC. Nonetheless we should’ve won the games we had the chances to win.
