Social media roasts ESPN, Greg McElroy for graphic error placing Nebraska in SEC
Social media can be unforgiving for reactions to even the smallest of errors. But for big ones like the one that ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy’s Always College Football broadcast committed on Tuesday? Well, those big-time gaffes produce big-time reactions from the social media world.
During an ESPN2 broadcast of the pod, the former Alabama quarterback who led the Crimson Tide to the national title in 2009 appeared to get a little ahead of himself in 2025. Or a lot ahead of himself.
What made the graphic error even funnier out of context on social media — but not for McElroy — was his seriousness, creating an amusing graphic and video mismatch. While the SEC did expand with the additions of Oklahoma and Texas in 2024, it hasn’t quite gotten to Nebraska yet. While the Huskers might eventually find their way into the SEC, right now they’re competing to win a Big Ten title.
