Some NFL evaluators think QB Jarrett Stidham could ‘sneak’ into first round

Jarrett Stidham’s redshirt junior season was a statistical regression from his sophomore campaign. His numbers went down in key passing categories, including completion percentage and yards per attempt. For those reasons, the media hype cooled down significantly, but NFL scouts are still high on the Auburn quarterback.
Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller notes that multiple NFL talent evaluators speculated that Stidham could “sneak” into the late first round. The thought is that Stidham’s numbers going down are to blame mostly on AU’s skill position players, not the quarterback himself.
Stidham faces an uphill battle. CBS Sports does not currently list him among its top seven quarterbacks in the 2019 NFL Draft. Miller’s reporting comes from the Senior Bowl, where notable early entrants such as Dwayne Haskins and Kyler Murray are not taking part. A strong Senior Bowl can boost a player’s draft stock, but Stidham would likely be making a significant climb up the boards to be on the first 32 players selected.
